Bottom Family photos
I couldn't have asked for a better session last week. Yes it was raining... yes it was challenging.... but you know what?! Your girl loves a good challenge!!
WHAT MADE IT WORK?
Well there were a couple of things working in my favor...
Clients that have tremendous taste, and an eye for color coordination. And while this mom had her family's look locked down all on her own... (omg did you see those matching bows and outfits?!) do yourself a favor and research before your big day. If you still need help, seek the guidance of the professional you are hiring! Never be afraid to ask your photographer for wardrobe suggestions. It will increase your chances of being wowed by the final product.
Flexibility. Yep, it can make or break a session. I don't think anyone would choose to work through the rain when it isn't the theme for the session. But clients have busy schedules too and rescheduling was just not an option. This situation required a quick pivot.
THE SECRET SAUCE FOR THIS SESSION?
A basic blue umbrella pulled from the backseat of my car that served no other purpose than keeping my son dry on rainy school mornings. But on this day in a desperate attempt to save freshly curled hair, it drew the eye of sweet little Leah and kept her interest for the entire shoot. And though probably much to her mother's dismay at the time.... I promised her a photo with the mismatched blue umbrella. What followed was a moment of pure magic!
The Moral of the Story?
Challenges keep you on your toes, and on your 'A' game... Things may not always work out the way you would hope but it doesn't mean that you wont get more than you could ever imagine! I created unexpected moments in time that not only reflect a cute little family of four, but for that family, a lasting memory of the day. I hope that for years to come, Aly and Koty remember the smell of the freshly mowed grass, the light drizzle on their cheeks, and the sweet giggles from their daughters!
